Owings Mills Boulevard to Extend to Liberty Road

The extension of one of Owings Mills' main roadways is on track and unrelated to the start of developments at the Ballard Green property.

A direct path from Owings Mills to Randallstown is under way, revealing  another sign that the area's expansion shows no signs of slowing.

The construction that drivers may have noticed at Lyons Mill Road and Owings Mills Boulevard is part of a project to extend access to Liberty Road, said Baltimore County District 4 Planner David Greene.

The road is set to loop through the Ballard Green property, a separate project in the same locale that will bring 521 homes, a mixed commercial area of retail and office fronts, a community center, a pool and various parks, according to development schematics. The plan also leaves room for a 700-student elementary school.

The county approved the plan for that property Jan. 12, Greene said.

An official date for when the development will begin is up to the developers, Greene said. A Ballard Green representative could not immediately be reached for comment.
