Owings Mills Company Home to Largest Layoffs of 2016 in Maryland: Report
The biggest single layoff in Maryland for 2016 took place in Baltimore County.

OWINGS MILLS, MD — Some of the largest layoffs in Maryland in 2016 occurred at an Owings Mills payment technology firm, according to state labor data.
Global Payments laid off 334 people last year, according to the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing & Regulation. The employees were slated to be let go by July 30, 2016, the company announced in the spring.
The firm provides payment processing technology and had a regional sales office in the 10700 block of Red Run Boulevard.

Runners-up for the most layoffs in Maryland for 2016 were the Allen Harim Foods in Cordova and U.S. Foods in Severn, according to state officials.
While 900 people were laid off at the Kane Company in Elkridge, the Baltimore Business Journal said that was a different type of event since the business went through a liquidation/plant closure distinct from other layoffs.
