Owings Mills Girls to Play for Region Championship
Eagles downed Chesapeake Wednesday to earn a spot in the Class 2A North title game.
With a narrow, 41-39, over Chesapeake (B.C.) Wednesday evening, Owings Mills girls varsity basketball will get the opportunity to capture its first region championship banner since 1983. Best of all, they’ll get the chance to do it at home.
Friday night at 7 p.m., the Eagles will host No. 8 seed Loch Raven, who knocked of top seeded Randallstown in the region quarterfinals on Monday, then topped Frederick Douglass on Wednesday.
A win over Chesapeake would earn the third seeded Eagles a trip to the state semifinals at UMBC’s RAC Arena. There, Owings Mills would potentially take on the Class 2A West champion, either Century or Poolesville, on Friday March 9.
