Owings Mills-Based Pet Company Selling Products At Harris Teeter

A pet nutrition company based in Owings Mills will be selling its products in Harris Teeter grocery stores in Maryland and other states.

OWINGS MILLS, MD — A nutritional supplement for dogs made by a company based in Owings Mills will be sold at grocery stores around the country. Harris Teeter will begin stocking Brutus Bone Broth, the Maryland company announced this week.

Brutus Bone Broth came to be in 2017, after a family member asked during Thanksgiving in 2016 for the secret to the longevity of the co-founders' dog Brutus.

Their response was "bone broth."

Bone broth was something they had been adding to his dry food. It has glucosamine and chondroitin to support joint health. The broth comes in chicken or beef flavors.

In the years that followed, Brutus Bone Broth has made its way to stores across the country. Wegmans is one of the retailers that carries it.

Brutus Bone Broth issued a statement Wednesday saying that Harris Teeter would be selling the product at its stores in Maryland, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.

"We are excited to expand our national footprint to over 250 Harris Teeter locations through our collaboration with United Natural Foods," co-founder of Brutus Bone Broth Kim Hehir said.

"Our partnership with UNFI provides the opportunity to deliver the Brutus Bone Broth line to over 40,000 customer locations in the U.S. and Canada," CEO Sue Delegan said in a statement. "We look forward to working more closely with UNFI in 2020 to share Brutus Broth and Biscuits with dog owners all across North America."
