Owings Mills Mall Locks Its Doors: Reports

The interior of Owings Mills Mall is now closed, officials said this week.

The doors to the mall are locked, with access still available to Macy’s and JC Penney, Fox 45 reported.

In addition, the AMC Theater remains open, according to The Baltimore Sun.

Kimco, which owns the mall, is evaluating plans for redevelopment, specifically “open-air shopping center concepts,” a spokesman told The Baltimore Sun.

Owings Mills Mall first opened its doors in 1986, the Associated Press reported. It was planned in the late 1970s when ”the idea of a ’luxury mall’ was in its heydey,’” Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz told the Baltimore Business Journal.
