Owings Mills Man Charged In Towson Rape: Police

An Owings Mills man has been charged with sex offenses in connection with an incident early Saturday morning.

OWINGS MILLS, MD — An Owings Mills man has been charged with rape and other crimes after a sexual assault was reported early Saturday morning in Baltimore County. Police allege he raped a woman behind a business in Towson.

Jarvis Benson, 32, of the 9500 block of John Lock Way, has been charged with second-degree rape, fourth-degree sex offense and second-degree assault, court records show. He is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.

Police allege Benson followed a woman after she left an establishment in the unit block of Pennsylvania Avenue, then he assaulted her in an alley behind a business.

Afterward, she broke free from her attacker and went back to the business she had left and reported the assault to employees, according to authorities.

Officers were called after 2 a.m. for an assault in the unit block of West Pennsylvania Avenue, police said.

Benson has a bail review slated for Monday and a preliminary hearing in the case set for Oct. 2, according to court records.
