Owings Mills Man Charged In Vehicle Theft

Police said an Owings Mills man was among the thieves trying door handles in neighborhoods and stealing unlocked cars.

TOWSON, MD — An Owings Mills man was among three people charged in a rash of vehicle thefts in Baltimore County this week. Police said a parking complaint in Catonsville helped investigators close in on the suspects in the case.

Police allege the thieves pulled door handles in driveways and on streets in Towson, then took items from unlocked cars; and if the key was inside, the suspects took the vehicle. At least nine cars were taken in this manner, Baltimore County police reported.

When a Catonsville resident called to file a parking complaint Wednesday morning about a Honda CRV blocking the driveway in 600 block of Woodsdale Road, police found that the vehicle was one of those that had been reported stolen from the 1400 to 1600 block of Jeffers Road in Towson. Baltimore County burglary detectives and members of the Regional Auto Theft Task Force said they followed as three suspects got into the stolen car on Woodsdale Road and drove away.
