Owings Mills Man Convicted Of Murdering Ex Wife And Her Boyfriend

Prosecutors plan to seek two life sentences for the Owings Mills man who killed his ex-wife and her boyfriend.

OWINGS MILLS, MD — An Owings Mills man was convicted of murdering his ex-wife and her boyfriend at her home in Randallstown last spring, where she was living with their children. The state is seeking two life sentences without parole, according to Baltimore County State's Attorney Scott Shellenberger.

Dominick Daniel Hursey, 44, of the unit block of Chase Mill Circle in Owings Mills, was found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder Tuesday night by a jury in Baltimore County, Shellenberger said.

Hursey was prohibited from contacting his ex-wife due to a protective order she obtained following an assault, officials said.

Chinika Hursey, 36, was living separately from her ex-husband in the 4100 block of Bald Eagle Court in Randallstown at the time she was killed.

She and her boyfriend, Steven Scott Campbell, 36, were both found in a bedroom, deceased from multiple gunshot wounds on April 3, 2017, according to officials. Her 4-year-old daughter was outside without shoes on, authorities reported.

Police responded to the house after neighbors reported hearing gunshots around 4 a.m.

The house had been staged to make it look like there had been a burglary, prosecutors said, but nothing had been taken.

Upon the arrest of Dominick Hursey, police said the murders may have been related to the separation of the Hurseys and custody of their children.

Officials said that Dominick Hursey had previously threatened to kill Chinika Hursey and Campbell.

He lied about where he was at the time of the murders, and ammunition similar to the bullets used in the shootings was found with his belongings in a vehicle he was permitted to use, prosecutors said.

At the time of the shooting, prosecutors said Dominick Hursey had also received text messages from a woman warning him against "plotting evil."

Sentencing is set for 9:30 a.m. on June 28. Prosecutors say they plan to seek two life sentences without the possibility of parole.
