Owings Mills Man Wins $124K Playing Maryland Lottery Game

An Owings Mills man who works at one grocery store won big buying dog food at another, according to the Maryland Lottery.

OWINGS MILLS, MD — A shopper at the Owings Mills Giant brought home more than groceries recently.

A man had been picking up dog food at the Giant on Mill Run Circle when he decided to buy a Fast Play ticket, according to the Maryland Lottery. He said he does not normally play the lottery but saw the vending machine and decided to test his luck.

He bought two tickets for the FAST PLAY Home Run Riches game, which costs $5 per ticket.

"I like them because you don't have to scratch them," said the man, who works as a manager at Whole Foods.

He won $124,716.

The winner has two adult children and told Maryland Lottery officials he plans to hold on to the money.

"I’m just going to put in the bank and save it,” he said.

For selling the ticket, Giant is also getting a $1,000 bonus from the Maryland Lottery.
