OWINGS MILLS, MD — A celebration of life was held Monday for an Owings Mills woman killed in a crash last week on Interstate 695. She was thrown from her car and hit on the inner loop near Security Boulevard, police said.

Danielle Tavakoly, 35, of Owings Mills, had been driving a 2010 Hyundai Elantra when she lost control around 1 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20, police said; her car hit the concrete median on I-695 near Windsor Mill Road and stopped on the left shoulder. It was followed by a second crash, police said.

Ralph Nwosu, 42, of Gwynn Oak, hit the back of the driver's side of the Elantra, officials said. The car rotated and ejected Tavakoly, who was hit by oncoming traffic on I-695. She was pronounced deceased by emergency medical personnel, and he was uninjured, police reported.
