Patch takes you on the field for an up close look at the Indians Thursday morning practice.
Franklin head coach Anthony Burgos has an interesting philosophy on protecting his players from the unrelenting summer heat: have them practice before the sun has a chance to reach its apex.
Sounds simple enough.
For the past few years, the Indians have taken the field for their first “two-a-days” session at 6 a.m., finishing up two hours later at eight and not returning until 6 p.m. for practice No. 2. Not only does the schedule help the players avoid the hottest points during the day, it gives them ample time to rest up between workouts.

Thursday morning’s offensive practice may have been without heat, but there certainly wasn’t a lack of intensity. Burgos made it abundantly clear to his team that talent alone can only take them so far.
He’s looking for leaders.
