PHOTOS: Florists Get Fancy With Creative Traditions

Trimmed stems fell to the floor at Friday afternoon, some arrangements for Easter and Passover while others for regular customers. A wreath decorated by lunch time was en route to the cemetery.

A light, sweet fragrance hung in the air while artists with decades worth of experience chit-chatted from their stations and worked to complete orders before closing time Saturday. The shop would be closed on Easter Sunday, one of only three days in the year it pauses its steady operation.

"We're open 362 days a year," said Eddie Wingrat, who has been in the family-run business for more than 35 years. "My philosophy is ... You never know what occassion will arise that you'll need flowers."
