Prep Football: Owings Mills Misses Playoffs, New Town Earns No. 2 Seed

The playoff picture crystallized Sunday morning when the MPSSAA tallied bonus points to determine standings.

football missed its shot at the playoffs when it lost to cross town New Town High School Saturday, according to a final tally by the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association.

(9-1), the No. 2 seed in the 1A North region, will host No. 3 Northwestern (8-1) in the regional semifinal Friday at 7 p.m. Northwestern allowed its first touchdown of the season Saturday, in a 22-6 win over Reginald Lewis, while New Town .

The Golden Eagles (5-5) missed out on the playoffs with a fifth-place finish in the 2A North standings. Owings Mills' 42 total points (a combination of win points and  bonus points, as assigned by the MPSSAA) was one fewer than No. 4 Dundalk's 43.
