Prep Sports: State Playoff Brackets Revealed

Beginning with lacrosse this Monday, the MPSSAA unveiled its playoff brackets for the 2011 season. Complete brackets can be viewed at MPSSAA.org.

Also, note that in all sports, the one through four seeds were awarded based on win-loss record, while the five through 12 seeds are slotted at random.

Baseball

Ending up as the No. 12 seed, Tim Gordon’s Indians will travel north to take on fifth-seeded Hereford Friday at 4 p.m. The winner will take on Parkville in the 3A North region quarterfinal.

Softball

Earning the two seed and a first round bye, the lady Indians will host the winner of the 7-10 matchup between North Harford and Parkville, Monday afternoon at 4 p.m.

Boys Lacrosse

With a bye in the first round of the 4A-3A South region after earning the No. 3 seed, Scot Laudeman’s squad will take on the winner of Parkville-Kenwood in the 6-11 matchup on Saturday at home.

Girls Lacrosse

As the fifth seed in the 4A-3A South region, Franklin will take on twelfth-seeded Woodlawn in the opening round Thursday at 4 p.m. With a win, Katie Sonnefeld’s bunch would travel to take on fourth-seeded Perry Hall Saturday afternoon in the region quarterfinals.
