Raided Owings Mills Pain Clinic Reopens: Report
A pain clinic on Red Run Road was one of two offices reportedly raided this week.

OWINGS MILLS, MD — A pain management clinic with an office in Owings Mills was the target of a federal raid this week, according to reports. Rosen-Hoffberg Rehabilitation was blanketed with federal agents on Tuesday and reportedly reopened with business as usual on Wednesday.
Rosen-Hoffberg specializes in treating chronic pain that results from age, injury or other conditions.
The doctors who run the practice have two offices, in Owings Mills and another in Towson.

FBI and DEA agents confiscated more than 100 boxes of files there Tuesday morning, according to Fox 45, which reported Rosen-Hoffberg Rehabilitation was back to "business as usual" on Wednesday.
Federal officials who served search warrants at the health care offices were "looking for health care fraud, probably over-prescribing of opioids," a DEA spokesman told WJZ, noting that nobody was under arrest and no charges had been brought as a result of the 60-agent raid.

The documents seized in the FBI and DEA probe will reportedly take months to process.
The federal probe was separate from a lawsuit brought by Baltimore City that alleges the doctors who run the pain management clinics over-prescribed opioids, officials told WJZ.
The city suit filed in January accuses the doctors who run Rosen-Hoffberg of operating "pill mills," where drugs are prescribed without legitimate medical purpose.
Dr. Norman B. Rosen called the allegation "absolutely ridiculous," in an interview with The Baltimore Sun.
The city's lawsuit does not list the Owings Mills practice among the entities accused. Instead, the allegations were waged against the Rosen-Hoffberg Rehabilitation entity based in Towson as well as each individual doctor. Dr. Howard Hoffberg lives in Reisterstown, according to court records.
