Randallstown Driver Killed in Head-On Crash with MTA Van: Police

The driver of a Hyundai Tucson crossed into oncoming traffic on Friday night, police reported.

RANDALLSTOWN, MD — A 44-year-old Randallstown man died after his SUV crashed head-on into an MTA transport van Friday night, the Baltimore County Police Department reported.

William Thomas Rideout, of the 3500 block of Carriage Hill Circle, had been driving a red 2012 Hyundai Tucson east on Liberty Road at Offutt Road before midnight when his vehicle suddenly went over the center line, according to police.

Rideout's vehicle collided with an MTA transport van that was headed west. Officials said Rideout was taken to Northwest Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the MTA van was taken to an area hospital as a precaution, and the only other person in the van was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries, police reported.

Baltimore County crash team investigators are looking into the incident, which was the second fatal crash in a matter of hours on Liberty Road Friday evening.

Approximately 1.5 miles away from the SUV-MTA van crash, a 14-year-old boy on a bike was fatally struck by an alleged drunk driver in a separate crash that happened before 9 p.m.
