Randallstown Library Branch Celebrates 50 Years
Special events are planned for the library's milestone celebration.

From Baltimore County Public Library: The Randallstown Branch of Baltimore County Public Library is marking 50 years of service to the community this week. The branch, which opened to the public on October 23, 1967 is featuring special events, local artwork and ‘memory cards’ from community members.
Several program are on the library’s schedule, including a Community Youth Talent Showcase on Tuesday, The Kindertainment Show with Annie the Kinderklown & Kinder Puppets on Wednesday, and Randallstown's 50th Anniversary Jazz Night on Friday with musical group Definite Friends. The Randallstown Branch’s full schedule for the week can be seen HERE. In addition, Baltimore Afro-American Newspaperphotographer Anderson Ward has a collection of photos on display and customer memories are being posted throughout the branch.
“Randallstown is such a vibrant community and we’re thankful to be part of our customers’ lives, both during this week of special activities as well as throughout the year,” said branch manager Sarah Smith. “We encourage our current customers – and those who haven’t visited for a while – to stop by and celebrate with us!”

The Randallstown Branch opened to the public in October of 1967, featuring 75,000 books, a collection of phonograph records, a selection of 8-mm films and 36 employees. At that time, it was the largest in the BCPL system and the total project cost was $620,000.
Serving a population area of 60,000+ and 12 schools, the Randallstown Branch features enclosed children and teen areas, laptop bars, a meeting room, study spaces, and the CoLab, a Center of Excellence dedicated to creating, collaborating and learning through technology and maker equipment. This location hosts a well-attended afterschool program, Beyond the Bell, during the school year and free meals (summer) and snacks (after school) year round.
