Reisterstown Festival Showcases Community This Weekend

The 26th Reisterstown Festival brings an eclectic lineup of local bands, a variety of local businesses and family fun to Hannah More Park this weekend.

Local residents won’t have to travel far for weekend entertainment this weekend as the 26th annual Reisterstown Festival takes over Hannah More Park Saturday and Sunday.

The festival boasts an eclectic lineup of local bands, a variety of local vendors, food, beer, family entertainment as well as festival traditions such as the parade, car show and fireworks.

“It’s just a party for the locals,” said festival treasurer Dee Cooper, who has been involved with the festival since the 90s.

Cooper, 60, a lifelong Reisterstown resident, said the festival started when Interstate 795 was being built.

“[Organizers] were afraid if a bypass was going to be built that people would skip around Reisterstown,” she said.

More than two decades later, the festival remains Reisterstown’s signature event.

Although it was originally going to be downsized to one day and only have the car show on Sunday, volunteer manpower and interested vendors allowed the festival to take place on both days.

Things kick off Saturday morning at 9 a.m. with the . This year, the community voted for the grand marshal for the first time, and selected Main Street Pediatric Doctor Peter Ferra.

Music kicks off at 11 a.m. with the Reisterstown Jazz Ensemble, who are followed by a variety of local bands.

“I think that’s really exciting for a community festival, to really promote our community’s music,” said Sherri Brogan, a festival volunteer.

The lineup includes Smooth Kentucky, F.T. Blindman, the Dave Jacobson Band, The Rez and more.

Saturday night closes with fireworks at 8:45 p.m., but F.T. Blindman will be playing until 10 p.m.

The car show starts Sunday at 10 a.m. and will be complimented by music from Guilty in a Sense and the Rube Goldberg Solution.

The Reisterstown Festival opens at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the conclusion of the parade. It is being held at Hannah More Park at 12035 Reisterstown Road in Reisterstown. Parking will be available on the Hannah More School grounds for a $5 donation before 5 p.m. and a $10 donation after 5 p.m. A shuttle will take people down to the lower field.
