Reisterstown Mustangs Football Returns

Having chosen not to leave the MMYFCL for the newly reformed CCFL, this season the Reisterstown Mustangs Youth Tackle Football Program is fielding teams in three divisions: American, Federal, and Pit Bull.

They have a full slate of 6 teams in the American Division from the 6-8 age group through the 11-13 age group. At the Federal Division they are only missing a single team -- the 8-10 age group -- from 6-8 through 11-13. Considering the league-wide drop in players registering to play in the 2015 season, this bodes well for the Mustangs. As usual they are fielding a single Pit Bull -- 5-6 year-olds -- team.

Last season’s success in the Centennial Division -- overall 46-8 record -- saw the Mustangs sending all six teams to the playoffs. Four of those teams -- 6-8, 8-10, 9-11, and 11-13 -- made it to their age group’s Super Bowl, with the 9-11 team taking home the Mustangs’ lone 2015 MMYFCL Championship. Of those four Super Bowl teams, all but 11-13 Centennial went on to play and bring home championships in the National Gridiron 365 “State” tournament. As a result of the Centennial teams’ success last season, the Mustangs were moved up from Centennial to the more competitive American division for 2015.

After more than a month of hot, sweaty, and gruelling practices and scrimmages starting in late July, this past weekend it was finally time to start playing live games. Overall it was a good week with 6 wins and 5 losses. None of losses were blowouts, and the wins were by a combined score of 155-24.

The Reisterstown Mustangs Youth Football is a member program of the Reisterstown Area Recreation Council, and is based in Reisterstown, Maryland. The Mustangs participate in the Mid-Maryland Youth Football and Cheer League (based out of Howard County, Maryland). Boys AND girls from the age of 5 through 14 -- whatever their age is on August 1st of the current year -- can participate in our tackle football teams. Our registrations start in early April of each year, our practices start in late July, and our games and playoffs run from September through mid-November.
