Road Warriors: Silcott RBI Single Boosts Indians Over Parkville, 7-6

Franklin captured its second straight playoff win away from home on Ryan Silcott's two-out single in the top of the seventh.

With the score tied 6-6 in the top of the seventh inning of Franklin’s region quarterfinal matchup with Parkville Monday, it appeared as though the Indians might let a good opportunity to unknot the score slip away. Andy Thompson led off the frame with a single, but pinch runner Ben Peterson still stood at first base two outs later.

However, Peterson injected some life into Franklin’s cause, stealing second base to move into scoring position and Ryan Silcott made the steal worth Peterson’s while, delivering a clutch RBI single to plate the go-ahead runner.

Junior Matt Goodman shut the door in the bottom of the inning to preserve the 7-6 win. The Indians will travel north to take on C. Milton Wright (last year’s Class 3A state champ) for the right to advance to the region finals.

Jacob Gibson broke a 5-5 tie in the top of the sixth with a pinch hit double, however Parkville responded with one of its on the bottom of the frame.

However, the Indians captured the momentum when umpires ruled that Parkville’s potential go-ahead run, which appeared to come in to score on a sacrifice fly, actually left early from third base, negating the Knights' lead.
