Robber Sentenced for 2-Week Spree in Greater Baltimore

Man who robbed Owings Mills store and seven others admitted to holding up employees with fake gun, district attorney says.

BALTIMORE, MD — A man who robbed eight businesses—including one in Owings Mills—has been sentenced to 15 years in jail, according to the Maryland District Attorney.

Ricky Tolson, 37, admitted that he robbed employees at these establishments last June by pretending to have a gun, according to his plea agreement, which stated he was actually unarmed:

  • Ramada Inn in Pikesville
  • Exxon on Falls Road in Roland Park
  • Shell on Smith Avenue in Baltimore
  • Sunoco in Pikesville
  • SF Mini Mart in Clarksville
  • BP in Lutherville
  • Cricket Wireless in Owings Mills
  • Game Stop on Old Court Road in Pikesville

The robberies took place over the course of two weeks—between June 7 and June 20—according to the Maryland District Attorney.

Tolson said he did not have a gun and admitted to leaving five robbery scenes with $2,915 in cash and two others with an undetermined amount of currency before he was arrested June 24, 2015, the Maryland District Attorney reported. He left BP in Lutherville without taking any money, according to the report.

Once he serves 15 years, Tolson will be on probation for three years.
