Flash Flood Warning Issued For Baltimore County

UPDATE (8:15 p.m.) — A flash flood warning is in effect for Baltimore County until 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, according to the National Weather Service.

These areas may experience flooding, the warning states: Randallstown, Milford Mill, McDonogh and Granite as well as roads around Scotts Level Branch from Randallstown High School to the Baltimore Beltway, and Offutt Road around Brice Run.

Radar showed 2.5 inches of rain had fallen as of 7:30 p.m., weather officials said.

Drivers should take an alternate route if they see standing water. Turn around; don't drown.

PREVIOUS REPORT: The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Baltimore City and Baltimore County in northern Maryland until 7:45 p.m.

At 7:02 p.m. a radar detected a severe thunderstorm over Owings Mills near Pikesville, moving northeast at 20 mph, weather officials said.

There may be 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail, possibly causing trees and branches to fall. Localized power outages may occur.

People should go inside to stay protected from wind and lightning. Move to an interior room on the lowest floor if trees are nearby. Do not drive under trees or in wooded areas until after the threat has passed, weather officials advised.

The following locations may be impacted, according to the warning: Baltimore, Pikesville, Cockeysville, Ellicott City, Towson, Catonsville, Woodlawn, Randallstown, Owings Mills, Eldersburg,
Milford Mill, Reisterstown, Lochearn, Mays Chapel, Timonium, Fallston, Hampton, Lutherville-Timonium, Garrison and Lutherville.
