Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Baltimore, Howard Counties

BREAKING: People are advised to stay indoors during the thunderstorm warning period.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Baltimore and Howard counties, effective until 4 p.m.

The warning calls for strong winds with 60 mph gusts and large hail. Torrential rain is falling, weather officials said.

A severe thunderstorm was located over Woodlawn at 3:19 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Damaging winds may cause trees and large branches to fall on homes and vehicles. Roads may be blocked, and power outages are possible.

People are advised to stay indoors and move to an interior room away from trees on the lowest floor. Do not drive under trees or through wooded areas until after the threat has passed.

Locations impacted by the severe thunderstorm warning include Columbia, Pikesville, Elkridge, Ellicott City, Catonsville, Woodlawn, Randallstown, Owings Mills, Milford Mill, Lochearn, Ilchester, Garrison, Hanover, Oella, Woodstock, Granite, Mcdonogh and Daniels.
