Shooting in Owings Mills Under Investigation: Police

Suspect in Owings Mills apartment shooting later killed two NYPD officers in patrol car, officials said.

The Baltimore County Police Department reports that it is investigating a shooting in Owings Mills that occurred Saturday morning. The suspect in the shooting has been identified as the killer of two officers with the New York Police Department Saturday afternoon.

At 5:48 a.m. on Saturday, Baltimore County police said officers were dispatched to the 10000 block of Mill Run Circle, where a 29-year-old woman had been shot in the stomach in her apartment in Owings Mills.

She was taken to an area hospital in serious condition, according to police, who said she is expected to survive.

The suspect was identified as Ismaaiyl Abdula Brinsley, 28, Baltimore County police said Saturday night, after Brinsley gunned down two officers in their patrol car in Brooklyn, NY.

NYPD Police Commissioner William Bratton said at a press conference Saturday evening that the Owings Mills woman who had been shot was Brinsley’s former girlfriend.

After shooting the woman, authorities said Brinsley left the scene, and Baltimore County police said they were working to apprehend him. He shot himself outside a subway station in Brooklyn, NY, after killing Officers Wenjin Liu and Rafael Ramos, according to Bed-Stuy Patch.

Baltimore County police said Saturday night that the shooting was under investigation.
