Baltimore County police said the individuals were taken to separate hospitals.

Police said that a woman whose estranged husband shot her outside their home off Liberty Road Friday morning is expected to survive.

At 6:55 a.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 9600 block of Axehead Court and found the woman with at least one gunshot wound, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.

She was taken to shock trauma with serious injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, police said.

"The initial investigation into this incident has indicated that the victim and the suspect were having some sort of interaction in front of the home," according to police.

"During that interaction, the suspect shot the victim at least once in the upper body," according to police.

Officials said the married couple lived at the home but the man had been staying elsewhere for the past several weeks

After the shooting, the man left the scene and headed to the 3700 block of Liberty Heights Avenue in Baltimore City, according to WJZ.

Officers approached the man, who was inside a vehicle in Baltimore City, police said. "When they went up to the car, they found that he had a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head," according to the report from police.

The man was taken to Sinai Hospital, where police said he was being treated for injuries that were life-threatening.

Officials said the Baltimore County Police Department was handling the investigation into the incident near Randallstown, and the Baltimore City Police Department was investigating the self-inflicted gunshot wound.
