Special Operations Crew Rescues Clydesdale from Ditch: PHOTOS

The 1,800-pound horse was lifted to safety using a crane.

A special operations crew was deployed to help rescue a horse in Baltimore County Wednesday morning.

Before 5 a.m., officials said they responded to the 8300 block of Johnny Cake Road, where a Clydesdale had gotten stuck in a ditch next to a home.

Baltimore County fire and rescue personnel had requested help from their Howard counterparts, who have special equipment and training, according to a report from the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services.

In about 90 minutes, Howard County special operations crews had lifted the 1,800-pound horse from the ditch, according to the report.

A veterinarian was also present to check on the 7-year-old Clydesdale, and there were no injuries, the report said.
