Steve Smith Sr. is Not Retiring

The Baltimore Ravens star will return for a bonus season, postponing his plan to retire.

BALTIMORE, MD -- Steve Smith Sr. will not retire as he had originally planned.

The NFL star announced on Twitter Wednesday, Dec. 30, that he plans to return to the Baltimore Ravens for another season, after being sidelined with an Achilles injury since the San Diego Chargers game on Nov. 1.

Since moving to Baltimore in 2014, Smith has been away from his family in North Carolina, where he played for 13 seasons with the Panthers.

Family time was what he had cited as his reason for retiring after this season, and the decision to return next year, he said, was one he made with his family too.

Last season, Smith had more receptions than any other Raven, with 79.

According to the BaltimoreRavens.com, the Ravens still need to find a new number-one receiver since Smith is turning 37 before next season; the BaltimoreRavens.com pitched the idea of having Smith slotted as the second receiver, Breshad Perriman in third and Kamar Aiken fourth.
