SU Basketball Secures First 2012 Win
The Mustangs' men's basketball team snapped a four-game losing streak over the weekend.

The New Year had not been particularly kind to 's men's basketball team.
After finishing out the 2011 portion of their schedule with an 81-74 win over Nichols in the Daytona Beach Shootout on Dec. 21, the Mustangs had a long layoff before playing their first game of 2012 on Jan. 2.
Stevenson lost that game, 97-65, at Keystone. The team, which was 3-7 in 2011, then lost three more times to fall all the way to 3-11.

But after losing by only five points earlier in the week to Frostburg State, the Mustangs finally got into the win column in 2012, leading from start to finish in a 66-54 win over Marymount (4-11, 1-6 Capital Athletic Conference).
The win snapped a four-game 2012 losing streak, a nine-game losing streak in Owings Mills and a 10-game CAC losing streak, the university's athletics website said.

Stevenson (4-11, 1-5 CAC) started off fast, going on an 11-0 run to start the game, and never looked back. Junior guard Brett Burrier led all scorers with 22 points. Senior forward Greg Collins had 18 points and four rebounds.
Women's Basketball
Junior Sam Murray, from Reisterstown, led the Mustangs with 11 points, five rebounds and four assists, but the team shot just over 28 percent from the floor and lost, 54-45 to Wesley Monday in Dover, DE.
The Mustangs (6-9, 2-5 CAC) were coming off a 52-50 victory over Marymount, which was won when freshman Pee-Jay Gunn sunk two free throws with 11 ticks on the clock.
In that game, Murray led the team with 14 points and seven rebounds, and also tallied a career-high six steals.
