Stevenson Sports Recap: Women's Soccer Clinches No. 2 Playoff Seed
The Mustangs' women's soccer team clinched the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament with a win Saturday.

Stevenson beat Mary Washington 2-0 to secure the No. 2 seed in the 2011 CAC Women's Soccer Championship.
The Mustangs (12-4-2, 6-1-1 CAC) have a first round bye and a home game in the semifinals on Nov. 2.

Earlier in the week, continued her resurgent season by scoring her 10th goal of the year to lead the Mustangs to a 1-0 victory over Salisbury Wednesday at Mustang Stadium.

Football
Quarterback C.J. Hopson was his usual impressive self, but 's defensive struggles continued as the Mustangs lost 48-14 to Lycoming Saturday.
Hopson rushed for 46 yards and finished 16-of-29 for 203 yards and two touchdowns passing, but the Mustangs (1-6, 0-5 Middle Atlantic Conference) couldn't hold the Warriors' offense in the first half, as Lycoming built a 38-0 lead at intermission.
Sophomore Jeromie Miller, a Reisterstown native, led Stevenson in receiving with five catches for 84 yards.
Field Hockey
Paige Messersmith's goal with less than seven minutes remaining erased a comeback effort led by Stevenson's Kaitlyn May and lifted McDaniel to a 3-2 victory Thursday at Mustang Stadium.
May scored two second half goals to give the Mustangs a chance (5-12).
Men's Soccer
Frostburg State beat Stevenson 2-1 Wednesday night at Bobcat Stadium as Bryan Whitmore and Yacob Kahsai scored for the Bobcats.
Mustangs freshman Yianni Sarioglou scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season in the 52nd minute.
Stevenson (7-8-1, 3-4 Capital Athletic Conference) outshot Frostburg State 5-3 in the second half and attempted two corner kicks in the final 14 minutes, but couldn't find the back of the net.
The team has a week off before traveling to Salisbury for its regular season finale Oct. 26.
