Despite Loss, Stevenson Women Capture Postseason Berth

The Mustangs will be playing in the CAC tournament for the first time since the 2007-08 season.

The Stevenson University women’s basketball squad may not have advanced into postseason play in the fashion they would have liked, but when the dust settled Wednesday night the Mustangs found themselves locked into the sixth seed for their conference tournament.

In a game in which they converted only 12 field goal attempts, Stevenson fell, 64-30, to Mary Washington, but secured the final seed in the Capital Athletic Conference tourney via Marymount’s (Va.) 78-69 road victory over Frostburg State.

The Mustangs will travel to play third-seeded Salisbury Tuesday, February 21, in what will be their first tournament appearance since earning the seventh seed in the 2007-08 season.
