SU: Volleyball Knocked Out of NCAAs, Football Loses Finale
The volleyball team's first-ever trip to the NCAA Championship was over after one round.

The dream ended quickly for 's volleyball team, as the Mustangs' first-ever berth in the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship lasted just one round.
Stevenson lost to Hiram, 3-1, in the tournament's first round Friday at Neumann
University's Mirenda Center.
It was still a historic season of firsts for the Mustangs (31-4), who also played in the first conference championship game in program history.

Stevenson lost to Salisbury in the Capital Athletic Conference final, but qualified for the tournament as an at-large team after finishing just one game short of the school record for wins.

The Mustangs finished their first season 2-8 overall and just 1-7 in the Middle Atlantic Conference.
But that doesn't mean there weren't a few positives to take away from a 43-34, season-ending loss.
Junior quarterback C.J. Hopson continued to make plays, as he again topped 100 yards rushing versus Wilkes. Freshman wide receiver Jae DeShields caught eight passes for 167, including three touchdowns.
Hopson, , had a dynamic first season at Stevenson.
He finished with 1,863 yards 20 touchdowns passing, despite missing part or all of several games in the middle of the season. He was also the team's leading rusher, with 680 yards and four touchdowns.
DeShields finished his first year with 848 yards and 11 touchdowns receiving, both team-highs, while sophomore Jeromie Miller (Reisterstown/Franklin) totaled a team-best 52 receptions.
And though the defense struggled to get off the field and stop big plays in every game this season, freshman linebacker Donnell Brown finished his final game with 18 tackles, making him the conference leader with 126.
