From the National Weather Service: *Special Alert* "Heat advisory remains in effect from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Heat advisory will expire at 8 p.m. this evening. A heat advisory means that a period of excessive heat is expected. The combination of temperatures in the mid to upper 90s and high humidity will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. The elderly, young children and pets are the most at risk.

"The most important thing to remember is to drink plenty of fluids, water and sports drinks are the best choices. If you must be outside, take frequent breaks in the shade during the afternoon sun. Spend time in an air conditioned room during the hottest part of the day. Never leave children or pets in a car. Temperature can exceed 130 degrees in a matter of minutes."

Weather: "A chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 a.m. Some of the storms could be severe. Mostly sunny, with a high near 92. West wind between 6 and 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms."

Wednesday evening: "A chance of thunderstorms before 8pm. Some of the storms could be severe. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming clear, with a low around 61. West wind between 10 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms."

Question of the Day

Best drink to help stay cool? Personally, I could go on and on. Frozen lemonade is a strong contender, as is good old ice water. Share your answer in the comments.
