Timonium Bodysurfer Rescued in Ocean City

A Timonium man was reportedly rescued by the Ocean City beach patrol Wednesday following a bodysurfing incident near the 82nd Street beach.

Around noon on Wednesday, the victim was found, face down in the water and without a pulse, approximately 10 yards from shore, according to Ocean City Today, which reported five rounds of CPR later, he coughed up water and was taken by helicopter for treatment.

The 69-year-old man suffered neck or back injuries when he hit his head on the ocean floor while bodysurfing, according to the Daily Times. The beach patrol sergeant told the Daily Times that waves were breaking close to shore, packing the sand so it felt "like concrete" on impact.
This was the second reported incident in the past two weeks causing Ocean City beach patrols to respond to a Baltimore County resident in distress. On June 13, a Parkville teen died after being caught in a rip current off the 92nd Street beach.
