U-Haul Leads Police on Two-County Chase, Officials Say

The police chase involving a stolen U-Haul ended on Deer Park Road Thursday morning, authorities reported.

One man is in custody and at least three other suspects are at large in connection with a police chase from Eldersburg to Randallstown Thursday, according to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.

In the “early morning hours” on Thursday, Aug 6, a Carroll County deputy tried to conduct a traffic stop on a U-Haul on MD 26 at MD 32, when the driver of the U-Haul cargo van took off headed east, the sheriff’s office reported.

The deputy followed the vehicle on MD 26/Liberty Road into Baltimore County, where Baltimore County police joined the chase, which ended on Deer Park Road, the sheriff’s office reported.

On Deer Park Road, at least four people got out of the U-Haul cargo van and took off on foot, the report said.

Police took Rodney Terrence Cooper, 40, into custody and charged him with possession of a stolen vehicle, according to the report.

Cooper is also suspected in a number of other incidents in Baltimore County, where authorities said charges in those crimes are expected to be filed.
