Vehicle Sinks In Liberty Reservoir, Driver Rescued: Officials

Authorities said that a dive team searched the water Friday after a driver was rescued from Liberty Reservoir.

CARROLL COUNTY, MD — A man was hospitalized after his vehicle went into the Liberty Reservoir Friday morning, according to the Carroll County Sheriff's Office. Multiple agencies responded to the reservoir, which is in Carroll and Baltimore counties and managed by Baltimore City, after someone called to report a vehicle in the water at 11:47 a.m.

Officials said a small black vehicle was totally underwater about 40 yards from the shore.

Three Carroll County deputies, a bystander at the reservoir and a Baltimore City Environmental Police officer went into the water to rescue the driver, according to authorities.

Crews from the Sykesville and Gamber fire companies also assisted, and the man was taken to Northwest Hospital, where authorities said his condition was unknown.

Members of Gamber's dive team searched in case there were additional victims, and there was nobody else who was found, officials reported. The Baltimore City Police Underwater Recovery Unit helped return the vehicle to land.
