Wawa Plans Owings Mills Store
The convenience store plans to open in Owings Mills in 2021.

OWINGS MILLS, MD — Wawa will open several new stores in Baltimore County in the next few years, including one in Owings Mills. The company announced the plans this week as part of the celebration of its 50th anniversary in Maryland.
Currently, there are 53 Wawa stores in Maryland, according to Wawa Public Relations Manager Lori Bruce.
The Reisterstown store opened in 2011 and was the company's 42nd in the Free State, Patch previously reported.

That won't be the case for long.
"We have plans for another four stores in Baltimore County," Bruce told Patch.
Wawa anticipates groundbreakings in 2020 and store openings in 2021 at these locations:
- Owings Mills — 9921 Reisterstown Road
- Cockeysville — York Road and Wight Road
- Perry Hall — US 1/Belair Road and Honeygo Boulevard
- White Marsh — MD 7/Philadelphia Road at Campbell Boulevard
Adding these stores is part of the company's overall growth strategy. Wawa plans to add about 30 stores in Maryland by 2025, opening about five to six per year in the state starting in 2021.
Before then, the chain will open four stores in 2020 — one in Baltimore and three in Prince George's County, Bruce said. The three new stores in Prince George's County will break ground in the first quarter of the year and open in second half of 2020.
Ground broke in Baltimore City at Boston and Ponca streets Wednesday for a new store that will open in June 2020.
At the groundbreaking event, Wawa announced it had signed on to sponsor the Maryland Special Olympics 2020 Summer Games through the company's nonprofit Wawa Foundation, providing a grant that will cover the registration fees so athletes throughout the state can take part.
"We could not be more grateful for the support we’ve received through the years," Bruce said, "and look forward to connecting with our communities and customers in special ways to mark this milestone."
