Construction has begun on the anchor store at Foundry Row.

Wegmans is now being built at the Owings Mills shopping center under development on Reisterstown Road, officials reported this week.

“We look forward to seeing Wegmans open its doors at Foundry Row next year, followed by a great mix of other top-quality stores, services and restaurants,” said Brian Gibbons, chairman and CEO of Greenberg Gibbons, in a statement.

There are more than 80 Wegmans stores nationwide, including seven in Maryland. The closest are in Hunt Valley, Columbia and Abingdon.

Foundry Row is being built where the 1.8-million-square-foot Solo Cup site used to be on Reisterstown Road.

In addition to Wegmans, Foundry Row will include DSW, LA Fitness, LifeBridge Health, Nalley Fresh, Panera Bread, Smashburger, Sports Authority, Ulta, Zoe’s Kitchen and other yet-to-be-named retailers and eateries.

The project began construction over the summer, according to Greenberg Gibbons. It will cost $140 million to build.
