Wind Wiped Out Power to Traffic Lights at Red Run Boulevard, Owings Mills Mall (VIDEOS)
Winds reaching 60 miles an hour caused power outages throughout Maryland, leading to traffic jams in parts of Owings Mills.
(UPDATED, 6:15 p.m.) — About 10,000 BGE customers in Baltimore County have had their power restored, and about 8,000 are still waiting, according to BGE's website.
The wind advisory in effect by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Adminstration until 7 p.m. has been wreaking its share of havoc in Owings Mills, with several Baltimore County officers directing traffic at Red Run and Owings Mills Boulevards a little after 5 p.m. Friday. The jam was a result of power outages at the intersection's traffic lights, and power is also out at Owings Mills Mall.
BGE reports that it has restored more than 25,000 of its customers' power since outage reports began today in Central Maryland, but anticipates more will experience outages throughout today and tomorrow, according to a release.
