2-Alarm Fire at Rosedale Apartment Deemed Suspicious

Residents were displaced Saturday afternoon by an apartment fire.

ROSEDALE, MD – Authorities are investigating a fire that displaced residents at a Rosedale apartment complex Saturday afternoon, a blaze that officials are calling "suspicious."

The Baltimore County Fire Department was called to the 2000 block of Kelbourne Road after noon on Saturday to find fire spreading, and the response was upgraded to two alarms, officials said.

A handful of residents had to be rescued by firefighters who used ladders to reach their second-story apartments, according to The Baltimore Sun, which reported a woman was hospitalized for smoke inhalation.

After 1:30 p.m., the blaze was declared under control.

Smoke and water damage necessitated the relocation of residents. The Red Cross was assisting them.

Preliminarily, police said that the fire may have started in the rental office "under suspicious circumstances."

The Baltimore County Police Department's arson unit was investigating.
