5 Teens Charged After Carjacking In Rosedale
Police said five teens were arrested in connection with a Rosedale carjacking. The youngest was 13.

ROSEDALE, MD — A new carjacking team is credited with arrests in a recent case that happened in Rosedale. Five people have been charged, and two vehicles have been recovered, according to Baltimore County law enforcement officials.
Police said a 66-year-old man was in his driveway in the unit block of Lyndale Avenue after 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 20, when two teens pulled into his driveway, showed a gun and demanded his keys and phone.
They left in his vehicle and headed toward Kenwood Avenue, officials allege.

Within hours, the vehicle was located at the intersection of McCormick and Councilman avenues. Detectives said they went around the corner to Elmont Avenue based on a lead and found another stolen vehicle.
There were three people inside a Ford Focus that, according to officials, had been reported stolen from the 5600 block of Leiden Road when the owner was warming it up unattended on Feb. 1.

As investigators watched, two people matching the descriptions of the carjacking suspects left a house and got into the vehicle.
Authorities say they stopped the vehicle and took five people inside into custody; two adults and three youths were arrested.
Jemar Myria Cannon, 18, of the unit block of Elmont Avenue, was charged with unlawful taking of a motor vehicle; theft from $1,500 to $25,000; possession of an unregistered firearm; possession of a drug other than marijuana; and unauthorized removal of property.
Police said Cannon had small bags of what was believed to be cocaine on him when he was driving the vehicle. He posted $5,000 bond and was released on Feb. 21, court records show.
Tyreece Antwan Jones, 18, of the 900 block of East 41st Street, has been charged with unlawful taking of a motor vehicle; theft from $1,500 to $25,000; and unauthorized removal of property. He was released on his own recognizance.
A 13-year-old boy and 14-year-old girl have been identified as the carjacking suspects, according to officials, who said their charges and names will not be disclosed.
A 16-year-old who was in the car also faces charges related to the theft, according to police.
Upon serving a warrant on Elmont Street, police said a pellet gun was recovered.
Authorities said a new unit in the Baltimore County Police Department helped close the case quickly.
"The establishment of the carjacking team allowed for a quick response and streamlined investigation," the Baltimore County Police Department said in a statement. "That, along with cooperative efforts of the patrol officers and other specialized units that were able to quickly respond and saturate the area, are responsible for the recovery of this man's car, another person's stolen vehicle and the apprehension of these young criminals."
