A Family Affair Children's Center

We have a full preschool program serving children ages two through five years old. We use creative curriculum which is a theme based, teacher created curriculum. We have a music teacher who comes once a week and we take several field trips a year. Our 2’s and 3’s Program In our 2’s and 3’s room we focus on helping children master self-care tasks such as toilet-training and using cups and forks as well as building social skills. We also lay the foundation for future academic learning with the basics such as the alphabet, colors, and basic math skills such as patterns and counting. Our 4’s and 5’s Program Our 4’s and 5’s program focuses on Kindergarten readiness. We cover all developmental areas including literacy, math concepts, science, social skills, music, and art all couched within a fun and interactive theme such as “Animals” or “The Beach.” Learning activities related to each of those topics are done throughout the week. Before and After School Care We provide before and after school care for children who attend Pine Grove or Harford Hills Elementary. We are open when schools are closed. We do a variety of indoor and outdoor activities such as: ○ Table games ○ Crafts ○ Legos ○ Outdoor play We also offer homework help, a morning and afternoon snack. Children are picked up and dropped off from the center by the BCPS bus system. Summer Camp We offer a school age summer camp for Kindergarten—5th graders. The teachers, staff, and administration participated in College Awareness Week at Pine Grove Middle School during November 26 to November 30. Each day, teachers discussed a different topic regarding the college application process and answered questions about life as a college student. The teachers all shared where they went to school and which major they chose on a special map to show the geographic location of each school. Students had a lot of fun seeing the places our teachers have been, and were able to participate in a scavenger hunt to find out more about the staff at PGMS. The goal of College Education Awareness Week is to encourage students to begin exploring their options for continuing their education beyond high school. What a great way to end the month of November!
