Cheers Must Submit Security Plan to Police to Regain Liquor License
The Parkville bar's liquor license was recently suspended.

A Parkville bar that had its liquor license suspended will not be able to re-open until it submits a security plan to county police.
The county Board of Liquor License Commissioners suspended Cheers Bar & Grill's license for 30 days beginning May 12.
The bar, located in Perring Plaza shopping center, has had its fair share of trouble over the past few months, as Patch reported.

In February, four people were stabbed during an altercation at the bar; , in March the Baltimore County Liquor Board called a meeting with the bar's owners and county police.
At the March meeting, the bar had its liquor license amended after police testified about a number of violent incidents at the bar, including what one officer called gang activity.

Then, in April, another man was stabbed during a fight that began inside the bar and later spilled into the parking lot.
Captain Thomas Busch, commander of the Parkville precinct, recently addressed the need for security at the bar at a community meeting.
"To get their license back, they will have to submit a security plan which I will review—then it's going over to our legal department," Busch said.
He said he is recommending to the owners that all security cameras in the bar need to be in working order. Additionally, security personnel would have to be more cooperative with police officers.
"They have to tell us what's going on in there," Busch said. "We ask, but they always say 'I didn't see anything.'"
June 11 is the earliest the bar could reopen. The bar will not have to re-apply to have its license reinstated, but will have to have its security plan approved by police by that time.
Charles E. Brooks, the lawyer representing Cheers Bar & Grill's owners, told Patch in a phone interview that his clients would be submitting the security plan as soon as possible.
"They will comply with all recommendations made by the liquor board," Brooks said.
