Crime: Burglaries in Parkville-Carney

Your weekly wrap-up of crime in the Parkville-Carney area compiled from police reports at Parkville Precinct 8.

Carney

Waltham Woods Road, 9500 block. Between 12 p.m. April 29 and 12 p.m. May 2. A diamond necklace and bracelet valued at over $20,000 were stolen from a home. Burglars smashed a rear window to gain access, ransacked the home and stole the above-listed items before exiting through a garage door.

Powder View Court, unit block. Betwen 7:45 a.m. and 7 p.m. May 2. A Playstation 3, a watch and cash were stolen from a home. A burglar kicked in the front door to the residence to gain access before stealing the above-listed items.

Padauk Court, unit block. Between 7:15 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. May 3. Several pieces of jewelry were stolen from a home. Burglars broke a basement window to gain access, then ransacked two bedrooms and stole the jewelry.

Deltom Court, 9700 block. At 12:09 p.m. May 4. A burglar tried to break in to a home, but fled before anything was stolen. The victim was home during the attempted burglary and heard a sliding glass door in the basement break — he saw the burglar attempting to gain entry at which point the burglar fled into the woods behind the home.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 40's with long brown hair, approximately 5'10" tall with a medium build. The suspect was wearing a red hoodie, black pants and a black jacket at the time of the incident.

Police responded to the scene with dogs and attempted to track the burglar but were unable to locate him.

Parkville

Harford Road, 8100 block. Between 4 p.m. April 29 and 9:31 a.m. May 2. Burglars tried to break in to a doctors office but were unsucessful. The burglars broke a knob off a rear door and attempted to pry open three windows, one of which was broken in the process.

McClean Boulevard, 7300 block. Between 11:35 p.m. May 3 and 7:30 a.m. May 4. Cash and a bank bag were stolen from a KFC restaurant. The burglars entered the store by unknown means and stole the cash from a safe. Before leaving, the burglars tampered with a bolt latch on an outside door.

Hiss Avenue, 3100 block. Between 8 and 10:15 a.m. May 5. Someone tried to break into a home, but was unable to gain entry. A rear storm door was pried open, a screen door and bathroom window screen were found cut and and the basement door had been pried at. Ultimately nothing was stolen.
