CONSCIOUS EATING WORKSHOP TEACHES HOW TO RELIEVE CRAVINGS AND HOW TO DIET NATURALLY

Certified Nutrition Counselor Ana Goldseker will offer remedies for relieving cravings such as sugar and fatty foods, will discuss ways to become more mindful when we eat, and will describe diets designed to boost our energy and immune system at Conscious Eating a workshop scheduled for Saturday, February 18, from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. The workshop will take place at Susquehanna Yoga, 12-A West Aylesbury Road, Timonium, MD. Goldseker will explain the importance of avoiding processed foods and of incorporating more fresh fruit and vegetables, lean meats and seafood into one’s diet. She will provide samples of delicious, healthy foods and will demonstrate ways to prepare them. In addition, she will discuss eating patterns that can result in poor eating habits and she will recommend ways to break these patterns. An advocate for eating mindfully, she will talk about how to pay attention to what we eat so we enjoy our food more and are satisfied not sated.
Ana Goldseker studied food preparation and nutrition consulting at the Ginkgo Leaf, a nutrition and cooking school in Los Angeles. She also trained with nutritionist Hermeine Lee whose clients included many celebrities. While in L.A. she was a personal chef and owned a catering company. A graduate of fine arts from Ithaca College, she earned a certified nutrition counselor certificate from Trinity School of Natural Health. She is a member of the Eating Disorder Network of Maryland and of the Weston A. Price Foundation.
Susquehanna Yoga was founded in 1996 by Suzy Pennington. Pennington is a certified Iyengar yoga instructor. Susquehanna Yoga offers is the only yoga studio in the Baltimore Metropolitan area offering Iyengar yoga classes. B.K.S. Iyengar created the school of yoga that bears his name that is know for its emphasis on proper body alignment and the use of props, i.e. belts, blocks, blankets, chairs, and other items. The purpose of the props is to reduce the potential for injury and to make it easier to move the body into various yoga poses. In addition to Iyengar yoga, Susquehanna Yoga offers classes in Hatha yoga, meditation sessions, special workshops and a monthly film series.
