The North Plaza merchants association will hold it's 8th annual Summer Music Festival in the parking lot of the shopping center located at the corner of Joppa and Waltham Woods Roads this Saturday.
Come by to check out live bands on three stages including classic rock, world/new age, indie rock, oldies, classic rock, county, jazz, blues and a live DJ.

On the Recher Stage, near Bill Bateman's Bistro:

The event also features a live DJ and an American Idol style singing competition on a stage near Wockenfuss Candies. "American Idol" finals begin around 3 p.m., tryouts and karaoke all day long.

Studio time will be awarded to first, second and third place.
For the kids, the event features face painters, costume characters, pony rides, games, a moon bounce and more.
In addition to all the free activities, area merchants will be giving away gift certificates (to K-Mart, Exotic Aquatics, Safeway, North Plaza Liquors and more), an electric guitar, music lessons at All About Music. In total more than $8,000 in prizes will be given away throughout the day.
The best part? All the activities on offer for this all-day event are free.
"With the economy the way it is — the high prices of food, gas, entertainment — the merchants here want to give back to our neighborhood: Parkville," said event organizer Charlie Higgs.
