Oak Crest Building Evacuated For Gas Leak, 1 Hospitalized: Officials
Nearly 200 residents were evacuated and the power was shut off as a precaution, Baltimore County officials said.

PARKVILLE, MD - Part of a senior living community in Parkville was evacuated Friday morning and one person was hospitalized after a utility issue, officials said.
As of Friday afternoon, authorities reported the entrance was closed to Oak Crest, where an outside gas leak and small underground fire occurred near the Belmont building. Approximately 150 to 200 residents were evacuated from that area to another part of the community, officials said.
Crews said they were dispatched to the campus in the 8800 block of Walther Boulevard at 10:12 a.m. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, but found a small amount of smoke had gone into the Belmont building, authorities reported.

One person was taken to MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center as a precaution and others were being medically evaluated at the community.
BGE was at the scene tending to the outside gas leak, along with medical providers associated with Oak Crest and Baltimore County Fire Department.

The power and gas had been shut off, and crews were using gas meters to ensure the safety of the building.
