Overlea Crime: Jewelry Stolen from Home

An Overlea home was burglarized during the daytime hours on Thursday, and a large amount of jewelry was stolen.

A police report says that between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Mar. 8 a burglar broke into a home in the 6900 block of Highview Avenue in Overlea by smashing a pane of glass on a rear door.

Once inside, the burglar stole a jewelry box containing a large number of items including a men's class ring set with a red stone from Greensbury Central Catholic High School, a 10-carat gold men's antique class ring set with a red stone from Westinghouse, PA, four men's watches—a Seiko, a Citizen, an Elgin and a Seth Thomas, and a number of women's bracelets, earrings, and rings.

The total loss value listed in the police report is more than $38,000.
