Pine Grove Elementary Competing for Clorox Grant

The elementary school in Carney needs your help to win a $50,000 grant.

Technology and education go hand-in-hand and one local school has an opportunity to make sure it stays ahead of the curve.

is competing for a $50,000 grant from The Clorox Company to replace all of the overhead projectors in the school with document cameras and projectors.

The grant, part of the Clorox Power a Bright Future Program, was submitted by Pine Grove Elementary technology teacher Eva Joyce.

By visiting the grant website, users vote for the schools they believe have the most need for the funds. At the end of the contest, five schools will be awarded grants.

Pine Grove is in competition with 23 schools in Maryland and a total of 1,573 schools nationwide.

Pine Grove needs your vote to win.

Currently, Pine Grove is in fifth place out of the 23 Maryland schools in the competition, but is significantly behind on the whole, with just 3 total votes to the first place China Springs Elementary School, which has acculumated 389 votes.

The contest began Oct. 22 and runs through Dec. 9. The five schools with the most votes will be announced in January 2012.
