Police: Armed Robber Uses Uber as Getaway Car

Officer spotted suspect as he climbed into the back of the Lexus, according to Baltimore County Police.

Sorry, crooks. Uber is a convenient way to catch a ride, but the service isn’t for getaway cars.

The suspect in a late night armed robbery was spotted getting into the back of a Lexus that police would later learn was an Uber taxi picking up a fare, according to Baltimore County Police.

Dashawn Terrell Cochran, 23, is charged with armed robbery and related charges.

At 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, Chochran allegedly walked into a Royal Farms Store in the 8200 block of Harford Road. Police claim he picked up a bottle of Tylenol cold medicine and put it on the counter.

“As one employee walked to the register to help the suspect with the purchase, the suspect went over to another employee, pointed a gun at him, and took him to the register area,” according to a BCPD release.

Chochran allegedly took an undisclosed amount of money from the registers before fleeing the store.

While a K-9 unit was tracking the suspect, he was spotted getting into the back of the silver Lexus.

Police stopped the car and detained the three men inside before learning the Uber driver had just picked up the passengers.

It was determined that the driver and the second passenger in the vehicle had nothing to do with the robbery and they were released.

Cochran is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on $500,000 bail.
