Robbery Preceded Maria's Carry Out Stabbing: Police

Police said the victim was targeted in a stabbing outside Maria's Carry Out on Taylor Avenue.

PARKVILLE, MD — A stabbing outside Maria's Carry Out Thursday night was connected to an attempted robbery, according to police. Authorities said the victim was believed to have been targeted.

The suspect has not been identified and remains at large. Police said he went through a hole in the fence to the restaurant parking lot in the 1800 block of Taylor Avenue around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Police said the suspect snatched the phone from the 36-year-old victim's hands and threw him to the ground, then stabbed him in a lower extremity and searched one pocket and his vehicle for cash.

"The victim indicated that the suspect never checked his other pocket, which did have cash in it, so it is likely that the suspect saw the victim put cash into his pocket earlier," police said in a statement.

At the time of the robbery attempt, the victim had been getting into his vehicle, authorities reported, and his phone was next to his vehicle when investigators arrived.
